Kaiet's Story
I was born on January 8, 1999 in southern California.  It was a nice day, and I decided to come a little early so off we went to the hospital.

My first name is pronounced "kai" as in sky and "et" like bet.  I'm named after my mom's maternal grandfather Kaiet Minaberry.

Kaiet is the Basque spelling of an adopted old Latin name that is characteristic of the Iparralde or northern (French) side of the Basque Country.  There aren't to many Kaiets around here though, so I should not be confused with too many other guys.

Later that year I was baptized.

I'm a pretty regular boy, liking the usual guy stuff which of course includes Halloween.  This was one of my favorite costumes when I went as Peter Pan back in 2002.

There's always something--or someone--at our house which keeps things interesting.  For example, we have musical groups from the Basque Country that often visit.  Here in 2002 we had a group of singers from Zuberoa join us.jean bordaxar taldea.jpg (46841 bytes)

Did I mention that I was Basque?  Not everyone knows about Basques because there really aren't that many in the world.  They originate in a corner of western Europe.

We have some curious traditions, but mostly my parents make me dress up and dance.  That's okay though--I like dancing at least for now.

As you can see from the photos here, I've stayed pretty busy.  Life was good, but as an only child I wanted another sibling.  So I asked my parents for a brother.  It took a while, but they finally brought me one.  Now we're a bigger and better family.  As I like to say:  "it's good having a brother."

That's my story for now--stay tuned as my adventure continues.  Goodbye all!MVC-005F.JPG (52450 bytes)
