This information has been prepared to help students learn about the campus resources that support learning.  They have been listed according to the kinds of needs students often experience.

If my office hours are not convenient with your schedule, make an appointment for another time on either Tuesday or Thursday so that we can confer on an individual basis for consultation on points that confuse you, and to discuss how you can improve your performance in the class.

Need help with Writing and Mathematics skills.  The Department of Rhetoric and Writing has courses in reading and writing development, as well as courses to help you upgrade your mathematical skills to meet Entry Level Mathematics (ELM).   The Center is located in NH 227 (594-6515), open M-F 7:30-4:30 .  The Office of Educational Opportunity/Ethnic Affairs offers tutoring.  Office hours are M-Th 8:00-6:00 and F 8:00-5:00 in SS 2209 phone (594-6967). 

    
Need academic advising.  Start by reading the Catalog for recommended pre-requisites and background knowledge.  The University Advising Center can provide information on general education and graduation requirements as well as help in selecting a major; walk-in academic advising is available M-Th 9:00-6:00 and Friday 10:00-4:00 in SS-1551, phone 594-6668.  Your department adviser and your college Assistant Dean for Student Affairs also have scheduled hours when they are available.  EOP students should see their counselors in the Office of Educational Opportunity/Ethnic Affairs.  It is located in SS-2209 (594-6967).

  
Need help with personal problems.  Counseling and Psychological Services can help with these kinds of worries.  Call 594-5220 for an appointment.  Office hours are M 8:00-7:30 , T-F 8:00-4:30 in SS-2109.  EOP students should see their EOP counselors.

    
Need help with money problems.  The Financial Aid Office [SS-3065], open M-F 9:00-4:00 , can advise you about grants and loans; Part-time job listings are available at Career Services [SS-1200] M-F 8-4:30 (594-6851).

    
Need help defining career goals.  Trouble finding an academic direction?  Career Services can help.  Walk-in career counseling is available: W 8:00-9:30 and 2-4, Th 8-9:30 and 2-5:45.  Normal hours are M-F, 8-4:30 in SS-1200 (594-6851). 

    
Need help because of disability.  Disabled Student Services [SS-1661] can provide support services for students with mobility limitations, learning disabilities, hearing or visual impairments and for students in programs for the disabled.  Hours 8-4:30 (594-6473).

    
Need help because of illness.  Student Health Services (594-5281) are located on the corner of Hardy and Campanile and are open M-T 8-6:30 and W-F 8-4:30.  The Clinic is open on a walk-in basis, appointments are available as well.  For weekend emergencies call 8-888 594-5281 from on campus for information on local emergency care.

    
Need help with computing.  The Love Library Student Computing Center in LL-200 is available for Help Desk consulting or call 594-3189.  Free computer classes are also available; see http://rohan.sdsu.edu/~bats/register for information.
